If a holiday falls on a Saturday, USPS will observe it on the preceding Friday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, USPS will observe it on the following Monday. Most Post Offices are open on Saturday (except holidays), but with shortened hours and early closing time. Some are closed on Saturday. All Post Offices are closed on Sunday.

For 2017, Tax Day falls on Tuesday, April 18. Post Offices MAY be open late on Tax Day, but don’t count on it. This custom is much less prevalent today than in past years, due to the large number of taxpayers who file online.
